***A New Beginning***

 

On November 12, 1983, more than 140 Brothers and Sisters came together at the Marriot Twin Bridges Motel in Alexander, VA for the purpose of organizing a new Order, under the leadership of Illustrious Robert Farrar and Daughter Virginia Ramseur. Officers were elected and appointed to the positions of Sovereign Grand Master, Illustrious Robert Farrar; Illustrious Grand Matron, Daughter Virginia Ramseur; Deputy Sovereign Grand Master, Illustrious David Ramseur; Illustrious National Associate Grand Matron, Daughter Rosie White; Sovereign Secretary, Illustrious Robert Brown; Sovereign Treasurer, Illustrious James Hopkins; and Illustrious National Secretary, Daughter Dorothy Johnson. Positions were also filled in the High Degree Department for Masons, Royal Arch, Illustrious Thomas Grier; Knight of Templar, Illustrious James Owen; Consistory, Illustrious L. Dortch and Order of the Shrine, Illustrious Theodore Davis. High Degree positions for the Stars were amaranth, Daughter Virginia Gulley; Heroines of Jericho, Daughter Nina Neely; Daughters of Isis, Daughter Ruth Murray, and Order of Sphinx, Daughter Sallie Crooks. The Sovereign Executive Board was formed. The Board consists of the Sovereign Grand Master, Illustrious National Grand Matron, their principal Officers and additional seven (7) elected members. The seven (7) elected members and their terms: Daughter Nina Neely – New York, Daughter Velma Langford – Connecticut and Brother Alphonso Metcalf, Sr. – GA serving three years each; Brother Eugene Branch – North Carolina, Brother Judison Savage – Washington, D.C., and Brother Morrisey each serving two (2) years each; and Brother David Ramseur – New York serving one (1) year.

Reformed Universal Masonic Brotherhood and Order of the Eastern Star Incorporated was officially incorporated on November 15, 1983, in the state of Delaware. The mailing address was 24 Argonne Court, Teaneck, New Jersey 07666. The first Home Office was established at 75 Harrison Avenue, Jersey, New Jersey 07304. The Home Office was later moved to its location 412 Cedar Lane, Teaneck, New Jersey 07666. It has now been moved to Camden, South Carolina.
